Per diem starts at your show time on day one and is paid hourly until you are returned to base. During training you are paid per diem from the moment class starts until you return home from basic indoc.

We have over 720 SICs right now. So let's talk dreamland here:
1) We have over 720 SICs here right now.
Even if, and I'm talking unicorns and rainbows here, the company continues to upgrade 10 a month, nonstop, that's 6 years right there. This is NOT going to happen because that would put us far past the PIC/SIC ratio NetJets requires.
2) We have microscopic growth plans. All the talk about new jets is to replace the disposals. We will have net growth of under 6 planes a year long term.
3) Where are all these upgrades going to come from? We have over 1700 PICs, and that is a LOT of people who would have to quit, die or retire to free the high end.
4) Modest growth (at best) + 1700 PICs + 700 SICs = at least 10 year upgrades for anyone hired now.
5) Don't count on the retirement age for all our resident fossils to help either. We have way more SICs in that age range than PICs.

As someone who left NJ 4 months ago with 10 years seniority, I would wager I’ll upgrade sooner here at SWA than I would of if I stayed.
Words can’t even express how much better my life is at swa and I can all but guarantee an upgrade at NJ would have done very little for my overall QOL. For those looking for the upgrade, good luck!

I don't know who sold you that bill of goods but I hope they threw in some magic beans.

It’s not going to stop for a long time.
Check your math. You’ll need good scores at the SWA interview.

Sure. They’ve likely never flown airline before and wanted to do that type of flying now.
Good for them.

2001 was a real party killer and now is the first time pilots can choose where they want to go since about 2000.
Good for them. Not the path for everyone.
