I heard the same thing with the aircraft lock. Also know one guy working there and he said he doesn't fly the entire 6 days on he just has to be "available" which if you live in base then that nice but if you commute well.... Heck even a 12 on 6 off is better than 6 on 3 off In my opinion.
Seems like an odd dynamic with WU owning the company and running the airplanes and then Gama supplying the pilots. Why doesn't WU run their own pilots? I know back when I worked at one of the ISR companies, they had bid on supplying the pilots.

It was that way, but I believe they have newly implemented flow through program.

While that might be true for some, the rest wont even bother due to being seat locked here for another year. LOTS of upgrades have been turned down the last few months.

His "savings" will be hugely outweighed by training costs when people leave due to him.
Sad when one guy can have such a negative effect on a great company and group of pilots.

Just to clarify something, you are saying SICs are not bidding on SIC slots on bigger equipment because of the lock?

More along the lines of PICs turning down higher paying PIC seats due to not wanting to lock in for another year (i.e. they want to hold out for the 300, just don't want to fly the 100, or want the flexibility of no seat lock). SIC to SIC lateral moves here are pretty much non-existant.

But is that strange? From the cheap seats, I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

In FTW, I would say that's the norm, but its also happening in other places with less turnover. Everyone is here for different reasons and everyone's situation is different. However, the consensus seems to be get your time and keep your options open for a speedy exit. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good opportunities here that don't exist at other shops. There is a lot of movement overall and that movement is here for a reason.
