Too many people are already spending their biffle bucks. Don’t get me wrong, I want an airplane too! But I want to be able to afford the gas to fly it without having to ***** myself out over my vacation, a vacation that appears to have been whittled away with pbs.

This absolutely has merit. There is value working for an airline with an aggressive growth plan. What if I told you you could have Southwest’s pay scale be you couldn’t upgrade for 10 years? Would you be happier? Do the math....4th year FO at Southwest $145...4th year Captain Frontier $206. The problem is guys want their cake and they want to eat it too.
You may not agree with what I said but I can promise you guys looking to come here do.

SWA, 4th year FO, has good enough seniority to hold an average hard line, so 17 days off in a 30 day month, credits 90 hours at $145, so 13K. On top off that 15% defined contribution, and 12% profit sharing (I know, results from the past are no guarantee for the future) so 16.8K total.
NK, 4th year captain, definitely, bottom third of list, so 14 days off with 72 hour credit at 200, 14.4K, on top of that 14% DC and 2.5% 321 so 16.8K.
Drop a 3 day for same days off, so down to 60 hours, and you are down to 14K.
Also vacation months are way bigger at SWA, and you get more vacation earlier.
You really can't compare pay rates, also growth is a lot more fickle so counting on a 4 year upgrade is a lot riskier than going to a place with a CBA with FO rates that are good.

^^^^^^omg thank you for this^^^^^^
If we vote this in, we aren’t flying into the pattern, we’re the Cessna that stumbles into the class B and causes the real airlines to go around because we gave them an RA....wake up!!!

I don't have a dog in this fight but I just want to say good luck to all you guys.
I read through the AIP and can't believe they're still trying to pay new FOs $58/hr to fly an Airbus. The industry level has been set. Don't settle for less than you're all worth!

So my guess is, they will run the CA solutions first, then set aside a whatever they need from pairings that check-airmen get, then run the FO solutions, not allowing FOs to get those pairings.
So in effect the same negative impact as we now face. Basically guys on IOE will have the same seniority as our check-airman Lol.
Before PBS was in the picture, I do remember a conversation with a NC member several months ago who told me they were shooting for a percentage of dedicated check-airman lines. So for example 75% of anticipated IOE will pre build x number of extra captain lines. The rest of IOE would displace FOs and be pay protected. Course this is irrelevant now, but may show their thinking on the matter.

I know you work a bit harder on your days on at SWA, but just a quick comparison between NK and SWA for reference. I will take 4th year as an example, but I think it holds up across the years:
SWA, 4th year FO, has good enough seniority to hold an average hard line, so 17 days off in a 30 day month, credits 90 hours at $145, so 13K. On top off that 15% defined contribution, and 12% profit sharing (I know, results from the past are no guarantee for the future) so 16.8K total.
