The F word seems to be a little far fetched. I’m curious to see when and how we get hit.

 

Looks like those cuts are just for April so far and might extend into may. There’s a wsj article. I got the impression this guy was near the bottom and is probably nervous because of that.

or when people stop going to Disney world or las. I’m not getting into this argument right now. There’s no reason to. I just find it funny how all the new pilots here think nothing bad is every going to happen, we’re recession proof, and we’re going to have 220 ac in 5ish years with no hiccups.

 

Washington country recommends all 2.2 million residents work from home. Over 60 stay indoors. Yeah, this won’t effect us at all since we don’t fly international. Been in this business too many decades to be that naive.

This is definitely affecting us and any other business in the travel industry. If you ask me this is a GREAT time to buy stock and go on vacation. Both are deeply discounted right now. I’ve seen multiple 7-night cruises at under $400 for a balcony. During spring break. That’s unheard of. No doubt the cruise lines are feeling that hit. Certainly Frontier is as well.

All that said, I am not freaking out about the end of the world. 3% of those who contract CoVid19 don’t make it. That includes those who are elderly and infants. If you’re a pilot in good health you’ll almost certainly survive if you contract it. This should not be affecting the world like it is, but the reality is it is. Who knows what that means for hiring. I’ve heard rumors of potential furloughs at certain legacy airlines. This is no joke but I think it’s all the media’s fault. We’d have a much better world if Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc didn’t exist.

 

Yeah, this isn't China. These idiots will stay home from work during the day and go party at night. Still spreading it, still infecting each other and there is nothing you can do to stop it. I can guarantee there will be corona-virus parties.

​​​China made people stay home, groceries were delivered, no contact to the outside world, a stipend given.

This is another overreaction and will be totally ineffective. However it will be fun for the employees, lounging around getting paid.

 

So, when was the greatest growth of a ULCC? I'm not saying it's a guarantee, nothing should be taken for granted, but the sky isn't falling either. Fortunately F9 nor NK cross the Atlantic or Pacific and that should help a little.

It wasn't just a few weeks ago and everyone was spouting off how ual was going to fly 787's and 777 to leisure markets, competing with he ULCC. Yet all we hear about are their guys getting paid 50 hours, sitting at home and the legacies reducing schedules.

I'm not on the bottom of any list, but the last thing a new hire needs is more stress. The possibility of furlough is stress enough without a bunch of ninnies running their mouths. Let's see where the chips fall, without all the mass hysteria.

You're absolutely right about growth opportunities for LCCs.

But maybe you missed the initial FCoolaid's point (which is usual on these internet conversations): no reason to be laughing about the current situation. And less so to be mocking other long haul airlines' concerns as this is definitely a cross-border issue. It might bite us, too.

But you're right overall. And I do agree that this is all being exagerated.
