So, September? We are supposed to have all planes back by end of September and are currently taking deliveries. Obviously things can change. Maybe I am too optimistic.

It’s been said before, we are staffed based on block hours not airframes. Just because they’re all flying doesn’t mean the utilization is what is once was. We could be fat or adequately staffed for quite some time.

This is definitely very true.

Default Pilot recruiter contact info

I was hoping someone had some contact info for anyone dealing with recruitment. I was supposed to start the April ground school, but that didn't happen. I originally received a phone call every month, just letting me know that I was still in the pool. I haven't gotten called now in a couple of months and am trying to get ahold of anyone in recruitment or HR. My previous contact hasn't been responding and I'm afraid they may have been laid off. I just want to know if there is still a pool or have they flushed it and will start over again when the current pilots are all back full time.

I would not be surprised if your contact in HR is gone. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be zero continuity, so I think your hiring pool still has legs but you’ll be treading water for much longer than originally planned. The company is cutting manpower for the foreseeable future (through March), I imagine they’ll be concentrating on getting pilots on unpaid leaves back into their seats before they start addressing new hires again.

No contact to offer but for what it's worth, I just received a call from them regarding an update on the April class. I know that nobody here will be surprised to hear there wasn't any life altering news provided, but they did call. So, since you were commenting about how you hadn't heard from them, that may change soon enough.

I'm already planning on another six months to a year before F9 brings in anyone new. I'm already back in school to try to finish a degree and am enjoying more time with my wife and kid then ever before.
I just don't like uncertainty. Being told that the pool is gone lets me plan one way. Being told that I am still in the pool lets me plan another way (they did call me yesterday to let me know we are still in the pool). Uncertainty leads to an inability to make plans, which I am not a fan of now that I have a family.

And for any other April class folks, if you aren't flying and are worried about currency, look into the Civil Air Patrol. It can be a pain, but once you get through some of their training stuff, if you get checked out as one of their pilots, they receive federal funding for you to maintain currency. A couple hundred bucks up front, and you can fly a couple hours each month for free. Just an FYI.

Edit: Anyone that is currently in the pool, please send me a message. I am trying to put something to gether to assist our communication between ourselves.

Default Class Update

I received a call on Tuesday 9/22. Before that, the last call I received was back in July. Not much changed. She did mentioned that Frontier was able to keep everyone on payroll. She said all the people who were hired previously is still hired and will be in class once they start back up. She said the only changes would be some PRIA paperwork that more or likely would have expired. If your desired destination was Frontier before the pandemic just sit back and wait. Based on my experience with them this will be my last stop. Hope this fill some gaps
