Great group of guys and gals. Good luck!
Out of curiosity, what made you change your mind? Where did you opt to go to instead?

Pretty standard stuff. An HSA is available. Insurance is thru United Healthcare. 3 types of plans, cheapo, traditional and not cheapo.

I cover a family of 4 on the traditional plan. I think I get about $250 taken out of each pay check.

$25 copay at Dr. $75 copay at urgent care and $100 copay at the ER

That is pretty expensive .......
I cover a family for less than that (legacy airline). This is hopefully being rectified by your negotiating committee.

You forgot to include the $200/mo "working spouse surcharge" and the added $75/mo per child if you have more than two. I think those are the amounts anyway. I'd call our plans pretty standard stuff if we were working at a regional.

It may be expensive, but the coverage is average. The United Healthcare traditional plan is pretty much the norm for coverage. I don't know what other airline's pay, so I can't comment on that. It would be nice information to have though

A quick internet search turned up this:

Average premiums and deductibles nationwide unsubsidized shoppers:

Premiums for individual coverage averaged $321 per month while premiums for family plans averaged $833 per month.
The average annual deductible for individual plans was $4,358 and the average deductible for family plans was $7,983.

That's a nationwide average. The same article said that a family of 4 averages $25,000 A year in costs

What difference does it make what the average American pays? What matters is what the average A320 pilot pays. If you want a snapshot of what other airlines provide, take a look at the 2017 United MEC contract comparison circulating around the Spirit subforum recently.

Wait: does this mean the lowest pay rates in the industry (by a mile) are actually even lower? ...Well at least we got that 16% retirement thingy going for us.
