Just messing around but it's a fun guess.
I don't think Delta would give a crap if B6 and F9 merged....barely a blimp on their radar and wouldn't move the needle at all for them one way or another.....

I think everyone is reading too much into the hiring/VSA slowdown. This exact same thing happened last year at the same time. The last VSA last year was in Mar and did not resume until Sep I believe and hiring slowed down as well.

The excuse last year was because there was no net aircraft gain, only replacements. This year we were supposed to be +12 in net aircraft and would need continual hiring to cover it.

Something changed.

We're supposed to be at around 70 acft by the end of the year.
At 8-8.5 crews per that puts us at around 1200 pilots.
We're close to that now.
Someone posted earlier we have around 1150.

Here is your reason why the hiring freeze. Nothing more and nothing less.

By Victoria Bryan, Reuters. “Lufthansa is due to receive five A320neo jets this year, a spokeswoman said on Thursday, half the number it originally expected, as delivery delays hamper the Airbus plane. Lufthansa, which was the first airline to operate the A320neo and took delivery of five of the jets in 2016, had said at the end of December that it expected 10 of the medium-haul planes this year.”

Nope. Not me. Never happen. That's the most outlandish speculation on this thread.

No need for pilot recruitment until the fall? Think the company will honor it's obligation under LOA67 next week?
