The problem with aqp is there is zero pressure to perform... if you can’t pass a regular type ride with 5 or 6 emergency scenarios, then you probably can’t handle it in the plane... aqp is no pilot left behind, hold your hand until you get it... then you’re stuck flying with some dipsh!t when the rubber meets the road... depending on the setup, I can’t see how it would be more expensive than what we have now

That's not true at all, you can absolutely bust with aqp. The idea is to train the things you don't do regularly, v1 cuts, SE go around, etc and get checked on the stuff you do every week. You still have to perform up to standards within the allotted amount of sim time provided.

All I know is at my last airline when I upgraded, it was almost a 33% failure rate the first time through... every person I know who failed upgrade, made it through easily when they went to aqp

33% failure? It sounds like the problem was your airline, not AQP.

Five airlines for me--three AQP, one that transitioned to AQP while I was there, and one non-AQP. As others have said, in my experience it depends on the airline and its assigned FAA overseers. I've seen AQP programs that are too liberal with the "train to proficiency" aspect, and I've seen AQP programs where the MVs had stricter rules than a traditional PC typically does. I've also seen non-AQP PC/PT/LOFT curricula that were every bit as useful as an AQP program is supposed to be. It just depends on who is in charge.

hi everyone
Quick question
Has anyone in this forum recently got hired by frontier ?
How much hours they require ( Jet time and total )?
I am currently FO for skywest flying 175 but would love to fly A320.
Do I have any chance with 500 hours jet time ( total 2700 ) ?
Thanks in advance

Lame reason to come to Frontier. You probably are looking increasingly competitive because the place sucks. I’d re-evaluate your life choices as the 320 is not that cool to work for half wages.
