guy from my class commutes from DTW. No problems so far. Delta and SWA. STL Based.

Thanks guys, sounds like ORD would be the best place of the three bases to have, but I'm sure that probably goes senior. Next best would be STL, this is all planning for now of course, interviewing in three weeks :-)

Seniority at G7 is a weird thing. You can pretty much get anywhere you want after a month. You can bid for a base every month as there is no restriction and if there is an opening you will get it. Best thing to do is find out what will be the easiest commute for you and stick with it.

So true haa haa I bid for different bases every month and got them right away . So I been to all 3

What would be the best base out of training for someone like me who's going to be coming from the west coast in the beginning? So far I'm planning on ORD. My story is, I have a girlfriend whom I've been with a while, and is willing to move with. So no matter where I end up will not be an issue, just the beginning while on reserve.

West coast? That's easy SkyWest...

It changes all the time. If you got out of class today I would say ORD or RDU.

Any ideas on upgrade time at GoJet provided you meet the requirements posted on the website for captain positions?

Unless new planes get on property . I don't think new hire street captains will be requested . But with a pilot group of 470 right now and pilots leaving it wouldn't take long . Year or 2 depending on attrition .

I would say a year just a little over.

KingBird50 08-29-2013 04:35 AM

I think the days of quick upgrades at G7 are over. There are some 40 guys on the upgrade list right now and unless there is any new flying I think upgrades will run at least 2+ years.

Unless you are making a lateral move it will take longer than a year for someone to upgrade to new ATP regs.

True . 1000hrs 121 or 135 . But even if the new hire is at just ATP mins still needs 3500tt with gojet matching 1 for 1 till 1000hrs to equal 4500tt for captain .

UofIflyer 08-29-2013 06:46 AM

Thanks for the info

No idea lol , maybe looking for instructors lol . Even though I don't think u need to be a CFI to teach if u hold a ATP on type .

When does sept class start ? How many anyone know ?

Only at G7 is 2 years not considered a quick upgrade.

Maybe you guys will start training pilots from other airlines, becoming a 142 center and then your instructors will need their instructor ratings. An ATP pilot can teach in 121 without instructor ratings.

Eagle was 142 on the ATR, we trained pilots from other countries and all of our SIM instructors were Flight instructors and had to be current.

Pilotguy143 09-09-2013 04:37 PM

22 upgrades before the end of the year!

We don't even do systems in house it's all flight safety .

I do have to say the training at eagle was a ass kicking but it was worth it . Made flight safety a cake walk lol

It's shorter than most since they don't have to teach you about jumpseating.

Tbucket.

I haven't once had an issue with jumpseating. I always politely ask if I could please have a ride and people say yes. Perhaps you wouldn't let a G7 guy on your Jumpseat, but that's between you and your CP (who is one hell of a good guy)

Also, lets grab a beer sometime. I can't imagine a DWC grad sober at 2:40pm on a friday

I have no comment regarding the level of sobriety required to comment on a gojet thread.

I found his comment to be hilarious. But I don't work at GoJet, so I understand why you didn't.
