Deadhead pay is 100% of the block time, and cancellation pay is 100% of the trip credit. Pretty fair.

What if your friend had to give back the 10grand he is talking at all the current pilots expense. Would he stay? Maybe there will be a picket line he can cross someday.

Reserve time in Sea is at least 12 months on the optimistic side. You better study up on the CBA because CS will mock your understanding of the reserve rules on a daily basis.

I know I'm one of the more hardcore "militant" ones here but this is too much. I'm sure there's a lot of people who are taking advantage of the situation but trust me when I say this, they will regret coming here once they finish training and hit the line. They will be getting slapped with a reality check real hard when they start doing their 6 day on 2 day off reserve stretches maxing out 12 hour duty times every. single. day.

Only among the truly ignorant. People falling for a bonus scam at a bottom-tier airline might be dumb or desperate, but they're not scabs.

maybe it's worse where they are coming from that 6 on 2 off with 12h duty days sounds like an improvement over their current situation and are neither dumb nor desperate.. I know it's not fair to the other pilots but who would just say no to 10k??

Easy to say no to 10K when there are at least 3 other airlines with better work rules, better first year pay, A DIRECT FLOW PROGRAM TO A MAJOR, AND more than 20K in bonus money.
The thing that makes it really easy to say no is the fact that anyone that would take the money is undermining the Horizon Pilot group which would make them selfish and “self centered/entitled.”

Regardless of what a person would decide the atmosphere at Horizon is not good therefore the QOL would be bad.

A fellow once told me that "It's better to want something that you don't have, than to have something you don't want". He was referring to his spouse, but I have since learned it also applies to pickup trucks, dogs and JOBS.

People learn from experience and a bad experience is a great "educator".
