What's happening at Horizon and Jets?
#2781
I have a hard time believing the no more Q classes 'till march...We're supposed to start parking Qs in 2018 and replacing with jets but I don't think that will happen that fast.
If you are doing your first upgrade there is no seat lock. The short jet upgrade was due to senior pilots not wanting to commute to SEA. If a PDX base ever opens up it will go very senior.
We are currently very overstaffed on the jet by about 30 captains and FOs. Lots of reserve and sitting around doing nothing (nice job AG!).
The future fleet plan according to the last webcast (from management whatever thats worth) was 60 airplanes at the end of 2018, with 13-15 Q400s getting replaced by E175s.

Well, I'm not sure where the switch to the EJet came from. But as we all know in this industry, class dates and aircraft could change and Jan 29 is still a ways out.
Curious, how is seniority in class determined? Age? last four of SSN?

Just received a CJO for the Q400. Class start Feb/Mar, exact date TBD.
How is reserve for new hires now? How long before holding a line and how much flying are people doing while sitting reserve? Still flying your butt off while sitting reserve?

I was hired in September and I have almost 50 people junior to me on the Q alone, and I havent even gone to sim yet. So movement is good. The being said if you dont mind Medford, you will move up the ranks fast. I cant see what the lines look like yet, but I imagine it wouldnt be long.

Age- I assume oldest being most senior?
Lucky not getting the Dash? Some of us were hoping to get the Dash because it would be a no-brainer transition. And we would actually get to use the ice protection unlike Hawaii flying. But a fresh start in the EJet is cool.
What are the minimum days off per month/bid?
Is it easy to drop reserve days? Or will crew scheduling give us the stink eye?

We’re your Q400s new? Because ours are OLD with the cheapest options for everything. No matter what jet I end up flying I’m never going to get over the rattling, vibrating, and annoying af PTU/DCMP sounds this airplane produces. Was the weather in Hawaii nice? You’re gonna love getting the sh!t kicked out of you putting around at FL250 stuck in the tops.
