Care to hazard a "how long" guess?
This topic is getting beaten up...but still...
From day one of indoc (3/19) I'm told 2 weeks of ground/systems.
Then on to sim...("how long" guess #1)
Then on to IOE...("how long" guess #2)
Then completion of IOE...100 hours?...("how long" guess #3)
Then upgrade training (I'm lucky, with the req 121 time)...how does that even work? And realistically, do I know the airplane and the company "well enough" at the conclusion of IOE?
I think there are 5 questions in there, 6 if you count the first one.
THANK YOU!! All other information comes sporadically (though professionally) from onboarding.

It is my understanding that they changed the footprint of Q training by a little bit. There are now extra FMS labs, and more systems training. That is what I was told by an instructor yesterday.

I would highly advise against upgrading on the Q with zero experience in the airplane. I would also recommend sitting in the right seat for at least one winter. Our Q400 operation is overly complex and there is a LOT of little things you need to know about that will bite you if you aren't on top of your sh!t. The FO sitting next to you will probably be a new hire (every FO I'm flying with this upcoming bid is a new hire FWIW), and everyone is going to be looking at you to have all the answers 100% of the time. Everyone's flying backgrounds are different so I'm not saying it can't be done, but you have a lot of responsibility and it would definitely be less stressful if you want to get through your regional experience free of training/checkride/linecheck failures.

So... the jet is so overstaffed that we have pilots sitting around flying as little as 2 hours per month? And now guys are waiting nearly 2 months for IOE? How many check airman do we have on the 175? How tough is it to pull FOs off a trip, pay them trip guarantee and throw the new guy in the right seat? Also, if pilots are flying so little, are they meeting the 100 hours consolidation in 120 days?
I'm an E175 FO currently waiting EO. I finished my LOE on 5 JAN.
I'm feeling a bit disconnected from the plane and have a trip coming up. I've been chair flying and reviewing memory items but we couldn't cover everything. I'm a bit stressed about my first flight. Any suggestions? I thought about contacting the union. Thoughts?

Maybe this is a silly question...but are folks getting paid while they sit around and do nothing?

Since the E175's are now doing PDX-SEA, SEA-GEG, and SEA-PSC, that means there are an increasing number of situations where the daily pay on the Q400 is better than on the 175.
