However, these -21 are not absorbed around the system throughout subsequent bids. That is a controlled realignment/reduction.
If you look at it through a pilots lens you realize that they are continuing to shrink 190 CAs. They know they can supplement their needs with RSA and VDAs.
From 1/2020 to 12/2020 there is a net reduction of 20 pilots in 190 CA seats system-wide.
WHY? It’s historically and critically understaffed now.
There has to be more to the story.

You’re right that is what it looks like to the naked eye.

I'm not surprised they're going to err on the side of understaffing 190 CA. They always have and why commit to staffing (when they don't have to) on an airplane that is being phased out. They just put the bare minimum that they would definitely need and they'll run supplementals as needed.

I'm so confused by all of this. This looks like a mess already, especially for someone trying to switch seats/aircraft.
The airplane is not being phased out any time soon. We're scheduled to receive ONE A220 4th quarter next year. Airbus is already showing delays and we may not even get a 220 until first quarter 2021. The 190 isn't going anywhere for a handful of years and needs staffing, and I don't understand why some guys talk like it's being retired next week.
