I was also told by some here that $100 barrel oil was going to slow hiring and passenger ticket sales. Airlines literally can't keep up with demand right now.

Where did I say it was scary, or are you just putting words in my mouth? If you’re scared this business is not for you. This industry will always be cyclical as we know, and the Covid disruption you mentioned was mostly shielded by Cares I, Cares II and Cares III. Without those bills, it would’ve been a massacre, even JetBlue would’ve been hard pressed not to furlough. Whether that happens next time is anyone’s guess. Again if you’ve been here for only a few years, the risk is pretty low. If we’re talking about 5-10+ years, which was questioned by many here when Covid first hit, I believe is a different story. You can disagree BD, that’s fine.

One of the biggest problems here is the pairing construction. The quality of the pairings has gone down massively. Guys that have only been here 4-5 years don’t always understand that. Most 20 year guys will tell you they had better schedules 5 years ago than they do now. That’s one of the reasons why 6-8 year guys are considering leaving now.

It is the major driver to our dysfunction.

The grid system is a much bigger problem and QOL detriment than the pairings I believe. Narrow-body pairings industrywide are pretty rough right now.

Pairing construction is not driving attrition. It’s not even top 5. Come on now. Yea it sucks, but it’s also something that can be fixed relatively quickly. Our reserve in general blows. Hopefully CBA 2.0 will fix it, since captains will be spending 10 years sitting reserve.
