That is interesting. In the 2012 PEA we were sent it references an Addendum C in the noncompete section, but it wasn't sent out to us who were already on the line. This is the first time I have actually seen an Addendum C.

Honestly you guys are wasting your time. I signed it in 2011 with it in there. My legal advice said it is only if you use the exact same training for another job. Such as leaving JB to go fly a part 91 or 125 operated aircraft that the certificate holder or insurance company accepted JB's training docs. You guys are reading way to far into this non compete clause. They can't stop you from leaving to go to another job. They won't waste the money on trying to enforce a training contract when it is illegal in most states to be forced to sign one as a condition of employment.

Then what is the purpose of having the addendum C? Just intimidate people to not leave, and do nothing if they do?

Imagine the conversation between the pilot and the CP.

Pilot:"Hello JFK CP"

CP: "Yes"

Pilot: "Im calling to inform you of my two weeks notice"

CP: "um...ok. Did you sign the PEA?

Pilot: "Yes, why?"

CP: "Well are you leaving for another airline affiliated with the one you left?"

Pilot: "Well yes, but, they weren't when I was hired on."

CP: "Sorry pal. We, I mean, Jetblue is going to have to come after you for the training costs. You did sign the PEA."

Pilot: "How much is that going to be? It wasn't specified in the PEA."

CP: "Well since there has been a lot of attrition and we need pilots I think the cost will be pretty high."

Intimidation is the key to getting employees to respond at Jetblue. Imagine the productivity if management still treated pilots the way they did 10 years a go.

Well put. Thanks for a good example. Without a specific amount in the PEA it is a winless argument.

Won't allowing guys to leave keep labor costs down? Like at the regionals?

It helps when senior people leave. Not someone within two years of initial training.

Here's some reality........ I want JB to be a successful profitable airline that's around til I retire or merges with another carrier.(hopefully with some sli, not a staple) If you are coming here to use JB as a stepping stone then don't come stay at your regional. I'm glad this is in there because it will save us money in the long run.

I will pose to you this question.

What do you do with the pilots who come to Jetblue because they thought it wasn't something different, better if you will. They believed all the stories of values and culture only to realize the truth.

That do you do with those pilots?

I am not sure how long you have been at the airline but improvements in my tenure have only come post 10% attrition.

Here's what your missing. We are already having problems retaining pilots. Next we will have trouble attracting them as well.

There are experienced pilots out there that will come to jetblue hoping its a stepping stone but being ok with it as a career if other options don't pan out.(Nothing is guaranteed)bThose pilots will be much less likely to come here knowing they could potentially face monetary retribution if they leave.

We will need these experienced pilots.

If we just had industry average compensation this wouldn't be as much of an issue.
