Yeah, I’m sure that’s true. Middle east conflicts have historically never lasted very long.

Speaking of dying in a muddy trench, you guys see this nonsense about augmented domestic flying? 10+ hours with 3 guys?

Under this administration, you are correct.

Sure did. The SQ thing seemed appealing for a minute but between 5 day pairings where you can tour the US West Coast and Amsterdam in the same footprint, or visiting LAX/SAN for a day trip, gonna be a hard no from me dog.

This also further ruins our QOL as more good trips and layovers get absorbed by these types of pairings if the company determines they save money.

Does any other real airline do this stuff, or is this JB reinventing the wheel?

Back in the 121 flight time/duty time days I rode the jumpseat on a USAir 319 out of the Caribbean with an augmented crew doing a turn that exceeded 8 hours by just a few minutes.

I also had a sim instructor who was former USA 3000 that said they'd just augment crews on routes to the point of legality to prevent layovers.

Not unprecedented but certainly uncommon today.

You can't really complain when we're in survival mode and they're using all the tricks they can to save a buck. As long as its CBA compliant, have at it. Although not industry standard these days, I don't see this lasting forever.

This company continues to just hurl bricks of cash into the incinerator. I'll spare everyone repeating the details of the ridiculous circumstances we see on the line, but we all see it. Then, rather than do anything to make real, effective, top-down change, they do shell game crap like this... and you think we should give them credit for "doing everything they can to save money?"

This is a trick, yes, and it is ostensibly meant to save a buck, but the pilot group's pairing construction is NOT where the rot in this company's bottom line stems from.

If anything, this just places undue risk into the middle of our highest margin flying.

I don't disagree with any of this part above. However, we can only enforce the CBA and ensure the company is complying - and they are. The company finds ways around language, and so do we. It just brings to light what we need to highlight in CBA 2.0. In the meantime, don't complain that JetForward isn't working, while also criticizing the company for trying to make it work.

It's an experiment at best and it may very well fail.
