The only thing I can think is that they aren't qualified enough to get on with one of the aforementioned carriers, then get stuck or comfortable enough here and stay. Why say you?
I have 1800 FW mil, almost all of it ME PIC (plus 1200 RW, but nobody cares about that). I waited 6 months after retirement without hearing from The Big 3, so took a job at a regional. 6 months later JB called, 1st year pay at regionals being what it is, I jumped at the opportunity. Now I've got ~900 121, phone still isn't ringing. I continue to update the apps, but I'm really hoping for a great contract before they do. That's why I'm still here. Now that we are in mediation I've been updating FDX and I'm going to apply at UPS too. Not that anybody asked.

We currently are afforded the luxury of hiring the best. That does not mean they will stay. That would be their choice. Other airlines are hiring quantity. I know plenty that have gotten hired at other places that could not or did not get hired here. We are not afraid of hiring people that may leave. We also don't have to hire pilots just to fill a seat thats empty....Yet. The CBA will help all of this as it becomes an issue. For the last several years plenty have said they will be leaving in droves and do not. I don't know why do you?

I don;t know why pilots go places and not others. JetBlue got real lucky when they hired you! Are you leaving? I am not. Nor am I stuck either. I like it here and look forward to our first CBA.
