Pre-contract I didn't do a damn thing outside of my originally scheduled trip. Did my job just as the union asked and that's all. Post contract I still won't ever touch an RSA but VDAs I'll do all day long.

Just a hunch, but I bet moving forward you won't see as many VDA opportunities systemwide. The new strategy for most guys will be to snatch up a RSA and hopefully not get called prior to when the 10am normal reserves start. Also the upcoming premium open-time pot will make it hard for some to be patient and wait it out on VDA.

Lately they've been posting it almost 24 hours early knowing that a good chunk of their reserves for the following day can't start until after 10am. I think you'll see more RSA's go unused then before going forward. Who knows though.

The bid is obviously for new hires. Yes, of course, someone will bid down to the 190 to gain some seniority. Yes, of course, someone will end up changing bases as that Airbus FO bids down to the 190.

But the obvious and primary purpose of this bid is to make slots available for new hires.
