The way I understand it...

GIS receives the FAA and your current air carrier PRIA records and verifies anything that they need to (any failures, admin action, certificate action) and then send the full background package off to JBU for the PHC.

Anyone else have other information? And I'm going largely off of what I've heard others go through and what has been provided to me by JBU via e-mail.

Hmm maybe I'll give GIS a call. I know my current employer received it but he told me he didn't plan on replying. I'm guessing they're going to have to wait the full 60 days for a reply. (Part 91)

Oy. Yeah. I will say I was led to believe my current employer also liked waiting until the max days allowed. Not cool. Part 121 though.

Good luck!

Giving them a call is a good suggestion. Did they send a number with the paperwork? I don't recall any contact info for them.

When the planes are unstaffed or in danger of being so, theyll actually agree to industry standard. That or endless picketing/strike vote.

Tell me why they want a CBA again?

Bozo then why agree to the extra days? They could drag it out longer by meeting less. They could ask for mediation now and really hit the brakes but they haven't done that either.

The extra days are great and Im glad it isn't contentious yet, I just look at motivation and so far I do not believe they have any. Do you?
They will in about 6-12 months though- If they want to grow, they wont have the staffing to do it.
Here's a question- when a CBA is reached, and reserve becomes more like a real airline, how will they miraculously switch from the way they abuse reserves now to a more humane system overnight? They cant get more than 300/yr through MCO and who knows how many we lose by the end of the year.
Also, are they going to let us bid below 70? More staffing issues...
thoughts?

Staffing becomes a lot easier if you incentivize open time by paying %150-%200.

Delta seems to greenslip their way through the summer. They use reserves to save the operation instead of staffing unproductive trips like jetblue does.

Allowing pilots to have some control over pairing construction has also led to more productive schedules, meaning more days off to pick up open time at a premium rate.

This company treats reserves like cannon fodder to fix their operational problems and uses them very inefficiently. There's plenty of room in the scheduling section with the potential to create a system that's mutually beneficial for the company and pilots.

The fact that a scheduling committee chairman is on the NC tells me the union understands the importance of getting this section right.

This process is taking longer than any of us would like. But I'll take getting it right the first time over getting it fast.

The company has the option right now to declare open time trips as premium pay. They've done it once since they took premium pay away. They choose not to offer premium pay to save money.

Yes, the company could bring back the premium trigger if they wanted.

I was discussing solutions to the staffing issues Bozo brought up that improved work rules as a result of a CBA could create. Premium pay for picking up open time is one tool to cover more open time and better utilize reserve pilots.

I don't have any misconceptions that the only improvements we get will be earned at the negotiating table.

You misunderstand. When they removed the trigger they said they would make open time premium on an as-needed basis. They did it once during an irop shortly after they stole the trigger. Haven't done it since. It was used similar to how Delta uses green slips. Once. Haven't done it since as far as I know.
