I think this would be a good time for some of us to sit down - put their oxygen masks on - take a deep breath!

If you sport a sweet stache at the interview they will hire you as a Check Airman straight away.

If by plaid you mean the 1 sweat, food, whatever stained shirt that gets worn for a whole 17 day rotation and only gets washed when said pilot takes a shower with his shirt on then yes, plaid is acceptable.

There were 8 in my class, no washouts. The AQP initial program is rigorous, but not as insanely difficult as the "slaughterhouse" claims made earlier in this thread. If you delve into the books from the day you first get them, you will do just fine.

That maybe now, but then is/was a wholly different story.

I will say this about the training dept.... I went thru the -400 AQP Initial program as a transition from the classic 2 years ago. It basically compressed the 6 weeks of initial into 4 weeks. It was a challenging program mainly due to the time line, but it was not terrifying. I do know they have made some changes to the initial program over the past two years, it would seem for the better. The annual AQP program has made marked strides in the past year, more training less stressful environment. Went thru recently and was pleasantly surprised at the real desire to teach. Perfect no... but night and day compared to years past.

The O2 masks say on them "Will not seal if wearing a beard" that's why they are not allowed.
In the Hawaiian thread, guys were saying you can only have a beard on the 717 because all the inter island stuff stays below FL250. So this rule doesn't apply to the -330.

Hawaiian allows beards for all pilots. Plenty of 330 and 767 guys have or had beards.
