We need to start an advocacy group to lower the retirement age to 60. Maybe call it MSPR (Make Senile Pilots Retire)? I bet we could secure sponsorship from various memory care providers. Hoosier Daddy could be the poster child for the urgent need to lower the retirement age.

I would absolutely sign that.

If we also brought back everyone who has retired at 65 -- at their seniority. It's only fair.

Why stop there?!
I say we go back to 1951 and start making sure all those pilots were made whole. I’m sure some of them had setbacks or promises that weren’t fulfilled. I wonder if any of them said, “If you weren’t on the seniority list prior to Pearl Harbor, this doesn’t apply to you.”

Our top priority should be to make sure all previous generations had equal compensation at the expense of current and future generations.

Default Unemployment

Little drift from the bashers, however just wanted to point out you can collect unemployment after being terminated at 65 in some (maybe all?) states.

For those of you still working and bashing, keep paying those taxes.

Yes you have to look for work but surprising, in spite of all the plethora of jobs out there proclaimed by previous posters, the reality is crickets. So unemployment checks it is.

This is what the old have been doing for decades. They get in power and suck the futures of the young and then turn around and gaslight by saying "you didn't have it as bad as me".

Millionaires collecting unemployment checks. [mod edit] clearly have no shame.

How depressing. Can’t enjoy retirement, can’t get a job AND collecting unemployment checks with at a minimum 7 figure retirement nest egg. Bless your heart.

It may be appalling, but it certainly isn’t surprising…

why not? You pay into the system and are essentially fired from your job. I’m definitely going to take advantage of this from the state of New Jersey when I “retire”. For the record I’m against 67…69…70…or fly till you die.

FWIW, no one is getting “essentially fired”. Thats loaded language. The mandatory age has always been in effect for every single person here. We have all known about it from day 1. Some here even got 5 additional years already from what they expected.

At most, they are getting laid off.
