This thread has turned into something very amusing to me.

First off, the CA has NO authority to dictate what you wear. That is a mgmt issue. I am glad she did not remove the armband. I think she should get a second one and wear one on EACH wrist now. Risking her job???? Are you serious????

The next person, who is not a "sheeple" type, needs to have words with this CA on a layover or on the employee bus.

The Captain has the authority to enforce dress and grooming standards on his/her aircraft. I don't know the full story here, but I'm willing to say the Captain may have been a bit too overzealous in this instance and probably could have been a bit more tactful to boot.
