there has never been proof that Lance used steroids...he is just a freak of nature..I dont know why so many people talk so bad about him without any proof! If you have it put it out there and inform the rest of us!

Looks like we now know who to blame for this one.
Straight from the horses mouth:
To all my fellow pilots here at Continental Airlines and especially to Lauren Barra-Berzon, I would like to extend a formal apology for the actions that took place during preflight of our scheduled flight yesterday.
I had no idea when driving to the airport yesterday the day would end up adversely affecting so many good hard working pilots at this airline.
I have a very large ripe Lemon with my name on it. How can I make Lemonade with it? If this pilot group becomes more unified and engaged at the negotiating table, then maybe something good will come out of this unfortunate event.

What I find curious is that so many are surprised by his actions.This guy has a "HISTORY" remember? This is who he is. Nothing has changed. The fact he is on a union committee is just a cover for his true character. And now you get a glimpse of who he really is, AGAIN!
Sadly, the union is chocked full of these guys. But hey it's a process right - one at a time just as long as we make progress and not just take the typical apathetic approach.

I've read all the replies and I think this FO has more balls than some of you guys on here and I would never want to play her in poker. To look at her Capt and say 'no' to taking off a rubber bracelet and a threat by him to call the CP. She probably dialed the number for him and as she was leaving the plane steamed, do what all good FO's do and start texting. Sending every active pro-union pilot she had in her phone a text that probably started with, "You won't believe what Capt BM the scab just did......"
I hope this event strengthens the pilot base at CAL and you all get the contract you deserve.
That apology by the Capt was weak, very weak.

After just having been through contract negotiations myself, looking back, I'll say the biggest problem is keeping all of the pilots together during that time. The captain was wrong, he admitted it. Forgive him, and try to stick together, for your new contracts sake. Otherwise, the company will roll you over.
