Didn't necessarily say it was an RJ issue. The fact is flying was shifted from one carrier to another. Better paid Pilots were replaced by ones earning less money flying smaller equipment. It didn't make me feel any better that a sub-contractor was doing the flying, (even if CAL was signing the checks), as it took away from mainline flying.
Back to the original topic...do you think it's right that United should have higher jumpseat privileges on CAL than Expressjet? How would CAL pilots feel if ExpressJet gave all United Express carriers higher jumpseat priority than CAL pilots?

back to the original topic, I think all the UAX pilots should get together with all the Xjet pilots, and create a JS priority putting mainline below us. I guarantee more mainline commute on express than the other way around.

You can stop your belly aching.
So yes, when talking about "little planes" (as you put it), the bed is made in regards to the present SCOPE, and CAL's "bed" is comfy on the topic when looking at other carrier's agreements.

I don't oppose the new United change at all.

Then why did you and your pilot group sign a contract ALLOWING for contracted flying? You don't think every single pilot flying a RJ would prefer to be flying that same plane on your seniority list, gaining at the very least longevity. (Incidentally I applaud all the Southwest pilots for continuing to reject contract flying, keep up the fight!) The industry is the way it is today because of the short sightedness of the previous generation, not the majority of the guys flying the little ones. I was in middle school when this was getting skrewed up, I don't recall getting to vote on your contract. You were too good to fly a little plane, and wanted raises. You guys made your bed, sleep in it.

Save your venom for those carriers who completely caved on it.

As it stands now, on CAL, a UAL pilot and an XJT pilot show for the js, who goes first per the current js priority? Don't answer, I know.
On a UAL flight, a CAL pilot and a UAX pilot show for the JS, who gets it per current priority? Again, I know.
If this goes thru, who will have priority?
On XJT, if a CAL pilot and a UAX pilot show up, who does XJT take? Again, I know.
How would you like it if XJT NOW put the UAX pilot ABOVE the CAL pilot for JS priority?
If there was an UAX flight, and UAL pilot and an XJT pilot show for the JS, should it go to the XJT pilot? How happy would the UAL pilot be?
Like I said, the argument that "CAL owns the seats" CAN'T be used. CAL doesn't own the JS on an XJT plane.

Because you don't bite the hand that 'feeds' you, and vice versa. CAL and XJT are very much in bed together. What does CAL have with United besides Star Alliance? This is going to cause unnecessary tension between the XJT/CAL pilot groups if this is not resolved.

Like it or not, the new agreement will be taking place and the last thing that XJT or CAL needs is some boneheads starting a turf-war.
Don't forget, you guys already have special agreements with the other carriers you provide service to as well.

I think you should too. As for who does more commuting on who, I disagree. You'll be hurt a lot more than we will but it really should never come down to that.
