Delta New Hires/Class Dates/Cleared to Train

No kidding, but this is the thing that impressed me most during the interview:
We were sitting outside the elevators in our sea of blue wool, white cotton, red silk, and black leather (sounds like a NC-17 movie), the 737 chief check pilot dropped by to shake our hands. Then a couple minutes later, he passed us again with a handful of cokes on his way to hand them out to the gate guards.
People that take care of the workers impress me, and I'm looking forward to joining the team.

What you witnessed is what DAL is trying to hire. It is that simple. Doing the next right thing even though there is no personal gain from it.

Unfortunately, there isn't an interview I've ever heard of that can consistently flesh these kinds of people out. Unless you're willing to stealthily follow folks around at their current job to see how they treat people both above and below their paygrade you'll invariably end up with the standard 10% who suck. And with the union mentality that pervades American industry it's nearly impossible to get rid of them after they bull****e their way onto the property.

Try Professional Standards. The Union, on the contrary, might be the only way to deal with those 10%.

Ralphie, I have to say that most of the guys I fly with do everything they can in their power to do the next right thing. Actually, I am generally impressed with most of them.
If you have issues, take it to Pro Stan, that is what they are there for. If the issue cannot be dealt with there it will escalate.
Why do you think DAL does all of this testing. PPL can be BSed but these types of tests generally cannot be.

Part of this profession that many forget is policing ourselves. Call Pro Stan on these pilots. Most are unaware because no one has the coins to say anything.

There are definitely those guys out there...fortunately, in my experience, they are far and few between. And, from listening to some of the CA's I fly with, the douche bags are on both sides of the cockpit. I can't believe some of the attitudes some of our FO's bring to the game.
