It was the right choice. There were not enough Q's to make the fleet efficient and the lease cost on those were more than what any other airline is paying.

Bedford had a start of the "next-gen" aircraft type, one that was growing in numbers, and instead of growing that business he cut it off at the knees. Only time & history will tell if that actually was the "right choice" or not.

Besides, F9 was in bankruptcy, right? Sounds like a prime time for lease renegotiation to me...

If anyone can read the indy business journal, i think it tells the tale of what's really going on here. MIS-MANAGEMNT. Give the people nothing and make them bring in people who know what they are doing running the branded side.

FINALLY, I agree with you! That took a hell of a long time.

Maybe they did or maybe they didn't I don't know. RAH was not in BK and there was no point in paying for an entire separate fleet that cost so much their total operational cost was no cheaper than Ejets. (according to management)

Jeff Potter and Paul Tate negotiated the Q purchase agreement.

Both men would have difficulty hitting a price target at a dollar store.

They agreed to $27 million per Q-400.

Bedford recently negotiated a similar price for an almost brand new Airbus 319.

Same monthly payment for a Q or a 319? No brainer.

Just curious... what does an E170 go for? A lot of people think Energy star appliances are too expensive, but when you calculate how much money they save they pay for themselves fairly quickly.

They did get all the options available. HUD, MTOP option, dual FMS etc. Never got approval to use the HUD and I never used MTOP... even out of ASE in the summer. You ever get the chance check out the huge baggage compartment in the front they ordered for service carts. Ummm... we only used the one cart in the back and it was used for crew bags only. The price wasn't the only thing they needed help on.

There is blood in the streets right now... airplanes are cheap. In 05 or 06 it was a different market.

So why did they end up keeping 4 of them and put them on the RAH certificate? Now keeping them indefinitely?

Think they should have checked the math before the press conference.
