Quote: Aircraft orders don't mean growth.
Thanks genius, what does the historical data show?

JetBlue has a history of selling airplanes. You probably don't remember because you weren't on property then. Also there are multiple airplanes coming off lease over the next few years, there certainly is no guarantee those aircraft will remain on property.

Then explain how JetBlue went from zero aircraft to 180 aircraft over 13 years.
Looks like Jan 9th class bumped up to 18 according to the news letter they just sent out. Will bases/aircraft for this class all be predicated on what trickles out the bottom of the current system bid(closes Friday?)? Or the previous one? Thanks

If I'm judging this correctly, we're still training for the last bid that was to have all training done by May. They won't know who needs what on the current system bid until after it closes. For example, if A320 guys bid other bases, then there won't be a lot of A320 training. If some guys decided to bid over to the E190, then there will be less E190 and more A320 slots. Simply won't know what's needed as far as new hire numbers until the people already here bid for what they want. You can get a good estimate of how many new hires are needed total, but not where and which fleet they'll be going to yet.

There is no doubt that we have seen extensive growth. What he is saying is don't plan on growth as a "plan" for your seniority movment.

From 1999 to 2006 jetblue was on fire. In 2007 things were changing... In 2008 the wheels came off the preverbial bus. The airline went through a massive overhaul in planning due to the fact that we were about to go supernova and grow ourselves right into a black hole.

They differed aircraft and canceled orders. Previously they were selling off the older airframes and still do. They have also taken advantage of some of these planes coming back at cheaper rates. At the end of the day the moral of the story is the delivery of 15 A/C doesn't mean a net gain of 15 planes.

Right now jetblue is doing good. Hiring and taking deliverys for a net gain of aircraft. However, in the event that the deliveries stop (who knows why) the motion of your seniority will halt for over a decade, where as at many of the other large airlines even if they park planes in the desert, you will move up in seniority.

That guarantees nothing. I don't know why some think previous growth or "historical data" ensures future growth. Delta shrank mainline and grew RJs. And now RJs are shrinking and mainline is growing.

Read above, "genius".

Do you really need me to explain it to you. Do your homework and get back with me.

Wow. Really? ...wow
