So, ALPA wants 1.9% and JetBlue wants 30%. And, it's ALPA's principles you don't like????
Evidently you don't view JetBlue as a career if you care so little about compensation.
I have a house I'd love to sell you. I just need 30% above market price. But, economics aren't important. Right?

Here is a spin. I am all for a CBA because we need many things fixed. Most importantly a better sect 15. However, in the top 50 percent, there are many pilots here making 2, 3, or close to $400,000. So the DR is working for them. I seriously don't believe they want ALPA. However, ALPA will prob do well for the pilots at the top just like they have at UAL. ALPA national worked with the senior people at UAL and cut a deal. They furloughed... ALPA national is a business. U can not argue that. They want and need dues more than ever. They r about to loose AirTran if they haven't already. So in my opinion, ALPa national should be here trying to sell themselves to us if we send enough cards in. I have been at two ALPA carriers, so I will need some convincing from national I must say. Nothing anyone says on this forum is going to convince me the only option we have is big ALPA national management.
All that being said, I do believe we need a CBA, and I could care less if having one ****es off a senior captain making 400,000 dollars a year..

Good God, more confusion on your part. It doesn't matter HOW the pairings are made, the point is that after the pairings are made, the pilots, while bidding, will analyze the pairings for the most 321 hours (if the aircraft pays more, or for those with big egos), and bid those trips. They will bid trips that have the highest proportion of higher-paying 321 block hours, the same way senior guys bid 24 hour Aruba overnights or high credit day turns.
As far as a larger aircraft, the A320 is 50% larger than the E190. The A321 is 26% larger than the A320. So, by that metric alone, I guess you could ask for a 5% override to fly the A321, but frankly we have WAY bigger fish to fry than a 5% override for a small percentage of pilots. If anything, I would rather see an increase to ALL A320 pay rates because of the increase revenue from the 321, but EVEN THEN, WE HAVE MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO FIX IN OUR PAY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE THAN THAT.
Furthermore, our "smaller" aircraft that pays less is a completely different type, while our "larger" aircraft that you want more money for is a common type of A320, just stretched. That, in our industry, IS an important distinction. As I have said before, please tell every Alaska and Southwest pilot you see that their contract is CRAP because they don't pay more for the 800-900.....

Lets say this. There is nothing in our compensation package that is industry standard but a few pilots think this should be it. Illogical in my opinion. As for bidding more productive trips thats part of seniority. I am able to bid day island turns because I am senior. Are you suggesting we should all fly 11 hour 3 days and 15 hour 4 days because thats what you fly?
If pilots want to analyze trips to bid for the 321 legs then so be it. So its not ok to do that but it is ok to bid for SJU, CUN overnights? Most of the transcon 321 flying will be a redeye which senior pilots typically shy from.
Look, lets agree to disagree. You have little if any experience with jetblue management, thats fine. Those of us who have no exactly how they are manipulating the pilot group and the naive fall for it.
Again, take time and call your PVC rep. Call your scheduling committee. Learn the truth. It is always easier to burry your head in the sand then to face the harsh and uncomfortable reality of where this pilot group is headed.

Some people are motivated by things other than money. I'm all for fixing our issues, but I don't want an additional bureaucracy to do so. It's enough dealing with an in-house union. Have you never seen the politics and waste that goes on at ALPA National?

Seriously dude. I can listen to both sides. But, I've yet to hear the benefits JetBlue Pilots have over ALPA guys!
And, how to you propose to fix issues under the DR? They used to say it could take 3-5 years to reach a CBA but the DR is more nimble and doesn't have constraints and bureaucracy of a union. Several years later, JB Pilots aren't even close to a PEA that remotely resembles a CBA!
Why???
