It would only apply if the company was shrinking/closing your base/aircraft. Right now the company is saying that the E190's will be on the west coast. There is the possibility of the LAX 717 catagory shrinking or closing.
If you were a LAX 717 pilot, you could bid for any catagory your seniority could hold. I wouldn't worry about it at all if you are eventually going to be ATL based.

A displacement can also take place when your just very junior on a fleet and another fleet is displacing. Say your on the ATL 777B and the final hammer drops on the DTW 747B in a couple years, at that moment, the 747B can select the 777B (assuming he's senior to you) and displace you, and which you can return the favor to a more junior pilot on another fleet and so on, and so on, which as you can see why displacements can be very expensive for the company and they generally will go to great lengths to mitigate the possibility of displacing pilots, especially when retirements and small growth are available to soak up excess pilots in a given category.

2 questions:
1. If you meet the PARB, do you get any official notification other than a phone call after they decide? They send a formal letter telling you that you're meeting the PARB beforehand, are there written comms afterward as well?
2. If you survive the PARB, do you stay with the rest of your CJO group WRT Indoc? Or do you roll to the class after the PARB meets?

There is a thread called "delta interviewees held up by shrink" that might help with some questions. It really sucks waiting for your fate while staying in the dark.

No other communication after the letter. Yes, you will stay with your CJO group as long as class doesn't start while you wait to be reviewed. (Not an issue at the moment since classes are so far out).
