Just when you thought it was over, NWA tries to put it NWA/DAL together again.

Quote: This can be beneficial to us all if done properly. The last thing we need is to merge and stay separate only to have mgmt try and play us against each other. Mgmt wants us to fight against each other to keep us from fighting them to get what we deserve as 1 solid pilot group!

If the rumors are true, I'm WAAAAY more willing to fight/strike management than get into it with any Delta pilot.

As far as I'm concerned, they just got there. (Executives work for a company for 5-7 years)
They will be the first to leave and go work for Burger King, United Health Care, Disney, or the Government.
They will leave us here for decades to come to deal with their mess and make millions as a result.
So, you know where they can go, in my book....

Bring 'em on...

I agree completely but my point is that we need to be working together both DAL pilots and NWA pilots as 1 group. It is us against mgmt.

I'm not so sure the Delta pilots are with you there. Only speaking for myself and making observations of the pilots I fly with, but, management has backed the Delta pilots thus far. We would rather be on the same side of the table, operating safely, efficiently and making customers happy. Working together and hopefully making a little money. Thus far, Delta's line level management has been against the merger for a host of reasons. Delta's Board is a different story. Anderson & Bastian have both been quoted as saying that the merger does not makes sense without pilot agreement.

The Delta pilots are organized and cohesive. I'm sure they could mount a damaging campaign, but for all of our interests I hope things do not go down that road with $110 a barrell oil. Anybody at NWA, or Delta, want to be a US Air pilot? I didn't think so.

Bar,

It's pilots vs. management, it's always pilots vs. management. Was management on the pilots side when they cancelled pensions? Was management on the pilots side when they slashed wages and benefits?

We have to stand together, they will use the economy and fuel costs to try to cram this merger down our throats. We have to fight for new scope with less RJs, and protect the jobs of ALL DAL and NWA pilots. I don't want to get fuloughed, but I will walk if they expect us to roll over take this merger without better pay and a equity stake. We can't tear each other apart over this. We must be unified. It's ALWAYS pilots vs. management.

Does anyone know how many pilots NWA has hired in the past year? DAL has hired around 700. I'm just trying to see where I might stand in this epic journey. Speaking of Journey, I'm alternating their "Don't Stop Believin'" with GNR's "Welcome to the Jungle" right now.

Thanks Superpilot92, appreciate the info. Also, thanks for taking care of me when I commuted on you guys for about a year. Everyone always accomodated me. I like your avatar. Even though the -9 is nearing 45 years since development the head on shots always make it look like a great bird. I am also amazed at how well NWA has taken care of them over the years. I've been on some AA MD-80's that were definitely tired.

Different management different time.
Sometimes our goals do not have to be mutually exclusive.
I will say that the majority of the DAL pilots have a business mind about them. because of this I think that many know what it good for the company will be good for them long term. It does not mean that everyone is happy with the screw job that has happened the last few years. Most will not go out of their way to help the company, but I have yet to see anyone go out of their way to hurt it.
