1/4 of the pilot group not voting is kinda a disgrace.
You should go look at the last MEC position vote, 263 eligible voters. 26 cast votes. That’s a pathetic 10% turnout.

So yeah, a 75% turn out here is a massive showing. Like I said a couple months ago on a different forum, Mesa has an extremely apathetic pilot group.

Saying this is a high turn out in Mesa standards doesnt make it less of a disgrace. The contract turn out and MEC postion vote were also a disgrace.

Not saying the outcome would have been any different, but out of the people who did vote it came down to roughly 50 people voting yes over no.

I respect the outcome but now we see what happens in Dec.

I am hopeful of a PSP program through March.

With the RBG situation I don’t think anything is about to happen in congress

Yup, I believe (could very well be mistaken) they have yet to pass a spending bill as well so a government shutdown is 100% inbound. PSP 2.0 is DOA.

Talking to some pilots about union matters it’s pretty clear they never check their alpa email or it gets spam filtered or they never joined or they just dint keep their email current.

The worst thing about our government is that it’s slow to act. The best thing about our government is that it’s slow to act.

With this vote I’d be shocked if Mesa isn’t 100 junior FO’s lighter soon. The schedule and “pay” is unsustainable....but I could be wrong who knows

this passing just prevented anyone who stood to be furloughed from even getting a seasonal holiday job. It does nothing but hurt a junior FO. And will put them 3 months behind other regional guys who have been looking/getting hired elsewhere since oct 1.

Couldnt said FO just go apply for the job anyway and take the VLOA for the next 3 months? Keeps all of his/her benefits and seniority, secures a new job (not at the end of the line for employment) PLUS gets 20 hours of pay. Why not just do that?? Seems like win for anyone who was wanting to look for a seasonal job anyway... plus if one doesnt pan out, they still have this one for the next 3 months if they want to make 68 hours instead of the 20 VLOA hours.

If the VLOA is approved, then yes that’s a sound decision.
