When I discipline my children at home they often get angry at me, lash out, sometimes think they are right, or that I just want what's best for me and not them.

FURLOUGHS WILL NOT BE STOPPED BY THIS MITIGATION. TAKING A "TEMPORARY" CONCESSION WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT INCOME LOSSES.

Do some internet research and look at what has happened in the past. Every time. Ask a former Northwest pilot.

You knew the deal when you signed up. Oh wait. You signed up believing in a quick upgrade and a quick move to a "major". You believed you were entitled to it.

Now, when it appears it's not working out that way, it's "greedy senior pilots" fault.

Got it. 👍

Doesn’t matter what they do with displacement. These are the current captains impacted.

It’s greed, end of story. You can dress it up any way you like but no matter what. It always comes down to a partial loss of income for one versus a total loss for another and the one with the possibility of a partial loss refusing to help the one looking at a total loss. Aka greed.

So, the figures you quoted - DFW for example, the number 58 is not the captains left in base but impacted (downgrade, displacement, whatever)?

No son, I lost all my income when TSA went down. Enjoying my back-up plan now. I just have enough wisdom and intelligence to understand that if you want a decent job when all this is over you have to draw a line. I also understand that your CEO is willing to scare the sh*& out of you if he thinks that will lower pay rates now and give him a chance to negotiate from a stronger position when your contract comes due soon.

Negotiations between the company and the union are ongoing, this isn't over yet. Be patient and I think we'll have a much better resolution to all of this.

If that’s the field they want to play on, that’s where we will battle. Patience is not an excuse for paralysis. I expect a forceful response shortly. The union should have a response quickly

that’s all it is is greed, just imagine taking an LOA and the company deciding to furlough anyways and saying “just grieve it” what do you think will happen? It will take years to get a ruling on it which is just what they would want, a lower monthly guarantee and less employees. They will gladly pay the extra money when they settle in 5 years and the economy is strong again.

And to think people are actually advocating that you work for less! I mean that is absolutely asinine. Furloughs suck and it's a terrible time in the industry for almost everyone. But pilots have a lot more skills than they give themselves credit for. The hyperbole that you'll somehow have to be working for minimum wage at McDonald's is ridiculous.
