It would be Mesas best business strategy to lower our wages, save up some money and possibly acquire United further on down the road.
Um, what? Last to announce it so the pilots effectively get boned even harder. Last to announce and last at a chance at the few pilot jobs are available right now. If you’re going to be one of the thousands furloughed I’d rather be on the front side of the wave then having the company tell me at the last minute.

It sounds exactly like the business we all knowingly got into... well except maybe you. Did you not teach yourself about seniority and the past 60 yrs in aviation history while massing that 'student debt' lol?

And you have a warped view of your world: "sending 500 of your own" HA! MANAGEMENT is doing that, not your peers. Put your self-righteous indignation in your pocket and grow up.

That’s not how the aviation industry works. Just a simple look at your resume they’d know you would have no allegiance and come back to your Major Airline job once recalled. This is a good sign, as a small business owner for over 2 years I can say that this is what success looks like in the darkest times. We’ll all get through this together.

Jeez. That’s what I get for lurking for years and not posting. Can’t even figure out how to respond to the right person

No, I’m a new generation pilot that actually cares about my fellow union members instead of the older generation of pilots that like to pretend they care about their “brothers and sisters” as a way to cover their own greed. Same generation of guys that used the union to pad their own pockets by getting in bed with management, and broke the picket line to create Freedom. These guys are the same ones feeding you this BS about “holding the line”

I certainly won’t defend Freedom, but there was no picket line crossed. My goodness, at the very least learn the history of your own company.

Fine, moving outside of the seniority list for reduced rates. In my mind it’s one and the same as crossing a picket line to do something like that in the situation it was done in.

Edit: disregard, I was clearly lied, by a certain union leader I might add, to as to what freedom actually was.

Lower wages? No, we are already bottom of the barrel wages wise. Company ducked the WARN notices, buying UA? Now that is hilarious. Can we buy FedEx and Amazon too? C'mon man lets gets real.
