If you want United, don’t go to an Aviate carrier. You will be much more attractive through the traditional hiring process if you come from a competitor and you will get there much faster than you could through Aviate. A few years ago Aviate would have been a great program. Today, not so much.

Because you fly for their regional already. You will be much more attractive coming from the competition. That way they aren’t taking a pilot from their own aircraft. Outside of Aviate your chances are low to get to United from an Aviate carrier. It’s even been alluded to in Aviate conference calls by United in the past. That is absolutely the worst way to try to get to United.

Does United let you apply via a normal application if you're already in Aviate? I thought I read somewhere that you can't do both...?

Careful using the word “flow”. Nothing is guaranteed. I personally know of multiple CPP (old Aviate) and Aviate candidates who completed their requirements, time was up and didn’t pass the final review. You are not guaranteed a “flow” to United.
Also read the rules of the Aviate program. If accepted into Aviate you cannot apply off the street at the same time. You have to leave the Aviate program, wait 1 tear then apply off the street
