A random line pilot emailing JO directly? Or a more senior person? I always cringe a little when people tell me they emailed JO about some little thing - uniforms, etc., but good for your friend if it was well received.

So you are good to bid EJet as a CRJ FO even after you got downgraded. There are guys who were downgraded from the CRJ before who are bidding the EJet as Captains now.

Do you HAVE to have an ipad for the Jepp software or can it be any tablet? How does that whole thing work?

Only the iPad can be used. If you go through training with the iPad you'll never see a Jepp. Otherwise, you'll have to make the transition after training on the line. There are two approved mounts that can be used.
