What is there to study? Just give me some de-ice flip cards and I'm good to go.

It means the most junior pilot that was awarded captain was hired in Dec 2013.

That means it has only been 13-14 months since getting hired that that pilot upgraded. Some people project forward and will say that the current upgrade time is therefore 13-14 months, but it doesn't always mean that. Whether upgrades stay that short depends on future attrition and aircraft deliveries.

Any company recruiter that drops upgrade times as a selling point is ****ing on your leg and saying it's raining. If upgrade time is 18 months, that means it's 18 months for people hired 18 months ago. Unless you have a guaranteed stream of income airplanes with proportional need for captain upgrades more than about two years out, then there is no way to know what upgrade will time when you get to it will be.

Navmode is right. If you go back and read the Mesa threads from around that time (Fall 2013) you will see a lot of references to Mesa's then 8 year upgrade. Upgrade times are a lagging indicator and not necessarily a prediction of the future. It's great news for people already here but at this moment there are probably better options.

- Great crews, these guys are awesome, don't even compare to the guys I flew with at RAH.

- Quick upgrade? (but for how long?) I had stopped recommending friends to come here after Spring 2014 because I figured that would be the cutoff for quick upgrades. But everytime we turn around there's a new announcement of aircraft.

- The company leaves you alone, I know guys who call off every month or every other month, no harassment or carpet dances have followed.

- Stability, we have zero 50 seaters. (For now....) Longest contracts with our mainline partners of any regional. Oil is low now = 50 seaters make money... but for how long?

- ERJ and CRJ on certificate, we can essentially take any aircraft tomorrow to be flying next week.

- Be prepared to be on RSV 2-5 months (winter) or 1-3 months (summer). You will be bidding in the top 30% of you base 12-16 months after hire. (FOs)

- Line guarentee. EFBs. GREAT training department.

-Everyone keeps hoping for a "better" contract. We're not getting a new contract as long as we're growing like this. I see it as- by the time Mesa gets a new contract, I'll have moved on. It's how this regional new flying/quick upgrade wave works.
Any opportunities to drop trips and get extra flying at premium pay? How are they pulling off $22/hour and $1.40 per diem when other regionals are offering no training contract, bonuses and $28-$30 per hour? $22 is just crazy low.
