Everyone needs to just chill out--half the people in this thread don't even work here and they're practically hysterical about a TA only 3-6 pilots have ever laid eyes on.

Frankly, I don't work for Air Wisconsin, so I don't care what their TA says. I don't care if they end up making 30% more than us to fly a 50-seater--because I'd still be an FO there for the forseeable future, and because their bases are extremely expensive places to live compared to Houston/Dallas/Phoenix. I also don't like the lack of job security entailed by only having FO time in my logbook, and working at a place with an ailing fleet of 50-seat aircraft and no fleet replacement plan afaik.

Everyone gets all worked up looking at each others' contracts, but the truth is most regionals are sufficiently different in cost structure, route structure, fleet types, career progression, and management culture that a straight comparison of payrates is a patently absurd thing on which to base a TA vote.

I don't lose sleep at night over the fact that a UAL Captain does the same job as me with vastly better work rules and respect for 3-5x more money. I also won't lose sleep at night if Air Whiskey gets a huge raise and great trip/duty rigs--because I don't work there and I don't want to be an FO on a CRJ-200 in PHL/LGA. I've done enough East Coast ups and downs in a 200 as an FO for a lifetime--not my thing!
Chill out. Lol I do lose sleep over this stuff and I tell you why. When you make min guantee 14-15 k a year. Can't afford the company health insurance, live out of a crew room because you can't afford a crashpad, and live out of a friends unfinished basement, you loose sleep. You also loose sleep when the credit union blows up ur phone for missing a truck payment. Before you put fuel in your truck you have to check ur bank account to see if you can. Then a company employee threatens you because u took a bottle of water off the plane and informs you that's not your property but Americans property. My address is the airmatterss stuffed some days in the corner of the crew room at Dfw. Come see me loose some sleep.

If theirs no significant pay increase for captians or fo's it should not be voted in. We will have plenty of leverage In The coming months. Class numbers have started to drop off. Shortage of capitans are increasing and we still have planes being delivered. Why vote sub par when we could get average+. I can't vote this round but I hope we say no.

I can't wait till these regionals burn to the ground and get what's been coming to them for a long time. Subpar pay with crap quality of life. Let em burn. That just means more main line jobs.

The question is do you want to be at Mesa while it's on fire burning to the ground?

It's the same story regardless of the regional you work for. As others have said, nobody has actually seen this TA, however, you have to look at the position Mesa is in with other regionals. You guys compete for CPA's and the majors try to get the best deal they can get. With higher demand in air travel we're seeing less and less regional feed but you still have a ton of regional operators. You guys have little to no leverage because there are plenty of operators for those -900's and 175's. It's a shame, but it is what it is.

That's a false sense of leverage. The majors are well aware of the staffing issues at the regionals, but there is a fix. That fix will come in the form of parking 50 seaters. The 70/76 seat jets will be staffed by displaced pilots off the 50 seaters. If the regional doesn't like that plan then the airplanes are moved to another regional.

Coming from the guy sleeping (or losing sleep) on the air mattress in the corner of ops.... Any regional pilot with a desire to move on to mainline should focus on just that. The time for standing up to management and demanding contractual gains comes when you actually start flying your own code, until then you have no say.

Exactly! The chest thumpers will be the first ones crying foul as airplanes start getting transferred to Skywest, etc.

I just wanted to quote this to give you the chance to correct it in case you meant something else. You're saying that every single pilot at a regional should just take whatever management thinks is a good deal?

Aren't you still on probation and can't vote anyway?

You would be shocked to discover how many pilots flying the line are willing to do exactly that. Yea I used to have to work around that low class of an individual. They used to be known as Simmons Airlines.

The sheep in east Texas are still scared.

Yeah man, 24/48 gets it, stop thinking we have the leverage as a regional pilot that we frankly don't. Stand up to management? Comair....Eagle (planes go to PSA) XJT..... shall I go on??

Get in, get that TPIC, GTFO!!!!!
