I'll never deny a Jumpseat to any pilot who follows the rules. Deny it to a new hire? Why? If it really bothers you, keep them as your captive, and drill them to death about why it is not good.
Are any of you going to go off the "A List", and deny the Jumpseat to many who are check airman? No?

Dude let it go, a CA can deny the jumpseat to anyone for any reason. It's his or her right to do so. Patronizing someone online about it does nothing.

Don't deny jumpseats. We don't need to make our own career worse. Instead, use that time to educate.

As for the frustrations at Mesa, well don't plan on anything changing anytime soon. Mesa is a contractor. You have a job. You have (currently) tons of opportunity to move on to better places so do it.

Attrition is the only way Mesa will get a better contract. Guys keep coming with low pay so let it be. Lets keep it a good pilot group. No fights. However, your job is to educate that we all deserve so much more.

Mesa is what you make of it.
Could be great, or could be horrible. Depends on how you want it to be.

Peace.

Just wondering, If I opted out of an upgrade class because I received another job offer 4 days before my upgrade class started, can the company put me back on reserve for the rest of the month? I have roughly 4 weeks or so until my class date next month, and didn't want to start the upgrade since:
1. Didn't want to waste the company's time or money.
2. Get stuck with a training agreement.

I kindly declined the class as soon as I found out Monday of the new job offer, and the upgrade class started today. However I asked to be back as an active F.O and they put me as a reserve pilot with a reserve line, but I cannot change or alter the schedule a single bit. With my seniority I am able to hold a line at any base easily without any problem. I don't know if Crew Line adjustments can put me on reserve as I am pretty sure our contract says they can't really do that. Any tips from other guy on what to do?

Having the right to do something doesn't make it the right thing to do. Like I said before, denying someone the jumpseat because you're mad is middle schooler behavior. If you want people to treat you like a professional then act like a professional.

Most of the time, the new hire doesn't know better anyways. Most of them, especially those with no 121 experience, don't know how a union works or that the company can't just give them things outside the CBA. I'd bet 100% of them don't the ins and outs of the contract when they are issued the iPad in the first place. So, when they are on the jumpseat, give them a little union education and tell them why its wrong, then file a grievance. In the end, it is the company that is wrong. Everyone should be getting their own iPad as paid by the company.
