Navy carrier Captain fired.

CSG was apparently AWOL in this. Somehow his subordinate felt the need to send classified info via unclass channels in a manner which was likely to become public. Instead of walking down the hall and talking to his boss. I have insight into how that relationship is supposed to work... they didn't send an admiral on cruise with the CVN CO so they could ignore each other.
I'd have been disturbed if CSG came away unscathed.

So an investigation is done and no fault is found. I’m thinking this investigation was probably pretty thorough because of the massive publicity?? But, Esper says…maybe take a deeper look? Then (surprise!) it comes back 180 out…Crozier was a bad commander.
What a crock…without a doubt what happened is one person and one person only said, “I don’t want that guy to get his job back.” End of story. And I’m not talking about Esper.
Hopefully Crozier punches out and goes and gets a nice job at Fedex or Brown were he won’t get f’d over every other month AND makes some nice bank.

I get that, but when you have all your troops on your side. They bang the boss into the weeds anyway, do they not understand that they lose a good bit of the glue that holds that big boat together. Ike only ever wore an enlisted uniform when addressing the unwashed. The big guys don't row that boat.

This should haven't come as any surprise. Dude will land on his feet with a nice O-6 pension and pretty much any high paying gig he wants. He'll look back and be thankful to be out of the service. My sim partner in DAL training was a recently retired Hornet skipper (or whatever the Navy calls SQ/CC), he saw the writing on the wall. A couple former squadron mates being fired for stuff they couldn't even control, careers being sunk simple because someone above them didn't like them. Makes sense to stop sacrificing time away from family for an organization that promotes yes-men and coat-tail riders. It is, what it is.
Even if you're just trying to save the lives of your Marines, you'll be raked over the coals. Only took like 7 years for this one to overturned.

Yes everyone in industry knows that a senior-officer career is fraught with shoal waters and there's an element of luck to keep your nose clean. As long as there's no felonies or grossly inappropriate personal behavior, a guy like that will be fine. Kind of like he lost the superbowl with a fumble... but he was still in the NFL, and he won the playoffs.
