Do you think most will take a big hit in pay if and when all this extra goes away? Looking at the pay and numbers people are talking about looks great I am just curious how long you think it will last?
It's not a case of taking a big hit on pay, its more a matter of returning to normal. The current environment is unprecedented and incentives are there to encourage crewmembers to work more days. As of right now the temporary agreement is 2.5x your daily rate to work on a scheduled day off, or "voluntary extended day" (VED) as it's called. That is set to expire at the end of April so anyone hired this year would likely miss out on it by the time they're off IOE anyway.
There is of course the possibility that it could be extended, but several hundred new hires should be flying the line (since the inception of the agreement,) by then.

The company has hired a lot of pilots and plans to hire many more. The problem is getting them through the training pipeline even semi efficiently. Flight Safety does the vast majority of our training and they just haven't been either able or willing to spool up their hiring to get the training done quickly. I personally believe NetJets should just lease the sims and use our own pilots to do the training, but so far management has mostly resisted. I really don't see how they will be able to end the extra extended days program by the end of April. I would hope that with the amount of help the pilots have been granting to keep operations functioning, that the next extention comes with a the 2.5 being the permanent extended day rate. My best guess is that there will be lots of money to be made by everyone for at least another year unless the stock market tanks and stays down for more than a day or two. The demand is just so unbelievably strong right now.

The other thing to consider is sales are on hold right now until the staffing and fleet issues stabalize. When the sales team is allowed to sell again things may continue to be crazy. Only time will tell.

jtf,

While I agree entirely with the rest of your post, the part quoted above is potentially misleading. You can’t just take a NJ pilot one day, sprinkle holy water on them and POOF, they’re a qualified instructor the next day. It is an arduous process and would require (amongst other things like curriculum development and FAA approval) removing both potential instructors AND the train-the-trainers from the line while the process is built. This can easily take months and would do nothing for the short-term pain except exacerbate the shortage of pilots on the line. While it is an admirable goal, it should be done carefully and absent a staffing crisis such as exists right now.

A few years ago didn't NJA have a program where F/O's were allowed to instruct at FSI because of FSI's instructor shortage?

Is there a link to updated list of home bases or is the one on here accurate? I know a few NJA people commute out of my hometown but I think it's now a grandfathered city/town. If so, 3 hour drive to the nearest approved airport pretty much is a deal breaker for me.

The Netjets pilot career page on their website has a PDF of the crew bases. I did not cross-check them all, but it does appear to be a current list.

I overlooked that pdf so thank you. It is interesting that the list just has Oregon listed, but also then also has Portland, OR listed. Any clue to what means? That's the state I currently reside.

That is strange. Who knows! But it looks like the two OR bases available under crew basing are Portland and Medford.
