Your surmise does not pass the snicker test. Theoretically possible but highly unlikely. Occam’s razor would say the simplest explanation is the most likely.

They can check databases of police and have a police report in 5 seconds. Addresses, dates of birth, social security number can all reduce duplication. They can give clear, almost certain proof that a major felony conviction matches with the correct individual.
My offer letter and class date were pulled at NJA like 5 days prior to flying out to CMH. When HR told me why, they said I didn't pass my background check. I was floored because I have a clean background. When I asked what for, they said I had outstanding weapons and drug charges, as well as being a prior felon. When I said that couldn't be me, HR laughed and said yea that's what everyone says. I was in contact with the background checking company (forgot who NJA used in 2015 but it might be the same one they use now) trying to figure out if my identity had been stolen or something to that effect because clearly if these charges were attached to my SSN, I would never get hired anywhere. Well, come to find out it was somebody with my first and last name, different middle name, no matching addresses and of course a different social. Only thing in common was we lived in the same state, and had the same first and last name. The background checking company flat out screwed up and did an extremely lazy and **** poor job.

A quick call from my lawyer got a certified letter and personal call from the background company to NJA, and I was in class as originally scheduled.

It was honestly a traumatic experience and one I still can't laugh at even 7 years later. But the point being, these background check companies can screw the hell up and cost people jobs. Not saying that's what happened here but mistakes happen on all sides during the hiring process.

I agree, in your case, they did a very poor job. Most police references are much better. I had a credit card company contact me asking if I had applied for a new card. It looked suspicious to them. Turns out someone in another city stole my identity. Racked up $20,000 in debt in my name and had been reported to the 3 credit bureaus. I worked with them and the police in his city. When he then applied for a signature loan, the police detective who was sitting there to witness it, arrested him. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison. My report was cleaned up. Although this was credit, not criminal, everyone was very cooperative. They assumed it may be a confusion or stolen identity. No one jumped to conclusions. Asked for proof from me. Once it was clear and certain, records were corrected. This was 25 years ago.

More recently, I had a large discount retailer that begins with a “W” ask me about a much smaller amount on a credit card against them. It was in a different city. Used my name. I wrote them a letter verifying it was fraudulent. They cleared it, took it off my credit bureau report.

In both cases, no one jumped to conclusions where addresses and Social Security numbers did not match. This is standard procedures per the retailer, credit card company, and police detective. Everything, in both cases, was cleared up in a couple of months.

Any updated information on the phone interview? I have one coming up in a couple of days and was just curious what kind of questions will be asked. I tired the search feature here, but didn’t find much information. Thanks

You'll love the process. I recently went through and started 2 months ago and I was blown away by NetJets.
The phone interview.... Cliche... but just be yourself, be forthcoming with info ie failures etc, and be truthful. Don't BS your way through it. As for questions I got asked: It was a lot of TMAAT questions, Why NetJets, Why do I want to leave my current employer, Tell me about yourself/resume, any failures, A time you went above and beyond for a customer, what does cust service mean to you. They want honesty and to see if you want to be there for your career.
Heard back the next day with the invite to the upcoming expo where the real fun starts. PM if you have any other q's

Just had my phone interview today. ^ This was spot on to what they asked me as well.

I'll add that they did ask if I applied anywhere else, what key words I would define as being a professional, do you have any furlough recall rights, TMAAT when you had a conflict with a passenger or crew member, TMAAT where you went above and beyond for customer service.

Crossing my fingers I get the call to the Expo!

Good luck!

Man, that’s scary and frustrating. I’m glad to you got that straightened out and got the job. Sad to think how many good people fall victim to things like that and don’t fix it.

How long are most people averaging from applying until scheduling the phone interview?

Keep applying guys and gals! I was hired in November and finished aircraft qual a few days before Christmas. It is a great place to be, this is a job that you retire from. Get here as soon as possible, your seniority number is everything, a months difference in hire date could mean a 30-50 number difference depending on your age.
