When a FO leaves, he is replaced by a new FO. Nothing changes until a captain leaves.
Since the older FO's aren't going anywhere, the age 65 rule getting rid of them actually hurts the company. What the company needs is a "no captains over 65" rule.
Getting rid of pilots with the looming pilot shortage.....? The short term savings might be over-shadowed by a long term reality.

Excuses excuses. Sounds like someone is panicking. Welp, bad news cupcake. The rule is happening. Time to get your sh!t together. You're leaving. Whether you like it or not.

Time will tell. In my ~15 years here the union (and company) have made a lot of misstatements.

The union has no power or control over it. Just another example of the union thinking they have any power outside of negotiations. Proof positive is the union sending a survey out about pilot age lol. The downgrade language is very clear and if management wants to downgrade they absolutely can and the union can’t do jack.

Why I love numbers so much is that they don’t lie. No hiring in 10 months, steady attrition although not heavy, but steady, and if those captain FO ratios fall into percentages that allow for downgrades, expect a large email full of hot air from the union on how they are going to do everything to stop it, but reality will set in when 75% voted yes to every single word in that CBA, and the union is powerless against management if they want downgrades.

I was very grateful for NJASAP so I don’t want it to sound like I am dogging them, but that’s the reality. Pedro has asked management nicely for certain things, and management flat out said no, and Pedro says ok and you never hear about it again. That example played out several times when I was there and it’s still playing out. The IBB fantasy is dead, and whatever weird thing they are trying to negotiate now won’t give any benefit to the pilots. I felt like, and still feel like the union is just trying to boost pilot moral with hopes, but really it’s offered no tangible benificial change.
