Or some other dynamic may come into play sight unseen, we shall see how many of of the senior folk migrate over, I know 15 year guys who have their apps out with the legacies and big freight, a lot of them are prior 121, this hiring boom will lift all boats. In the meantime, life goes on one leg at a time in the mighty XL from sea to shining sea in 1.5 increments : )

Guys
can anyone give me a bit of insight of how the 3 different schedules work?
I read somewhere that it´s not guaranteed that you get what you choose.
I flew for NetJets Europe and we didn´t have the choice.
Any further update on the face to face interview? I will call tomorrow for a interview date.
....and yes, I am fully aware that I might never upgrade. But I will tell you, after 20 years of mil. flying, NetJets was more fun than I could ever imagine. That´s if you like not knowing where you are the next day or tonight. I was sitting at Luton England one day and we were in the aircraft with APU running, not knowing if we will do a 20 min ferry or an ocean crossing to New York. Where else can you get that kind of diversity??
I´d go back to NetJets Long Haul in a heart beat !!

Well, for the vast majority of our fleet, if you like 4-5 legs a day, 11-13 hour days, close to min rest EVERYDAY, then you will probably like it here. Oh, and diminishing quality of Hotels.

If every layover is min rest, do you even notice the quality of the hotel? Just asking.

Exactly. At my 121 carrier over the last 25 years upgrade went from 2 years to 5 years when the managers were predicting 3 year upgrade. Then Age 65 and 9/11 came along and the upgrade was up around 15 years. Even with all the hiring and guys punching out its still around 9-10 years.
Amen. I honestly hope EVERY NJ pilot who wants to move on gets the opportunity.
Some people enjoy flying airplanes. Some people want to sit in a tube for 13 hours and count their money. To each his own.

fischman,
You will initially be place on the 18 day training schedule. After that, it all depends on seniority to maintain it during the open bid but it tends to be all over the place . The 15 day is super senior and as an 8 year FO, I can't hold it in my fleet.
As far as parking goes, we have lost many Signature contracts over the last few years in some markets but the new preferred FBOs should provide parking for you at those locations.
Welcome back!
Oh, and one big disclaimer for those looking to come to NJA as new hires. You will not be granted HBA rights and will unfortunately be placed under the domicile system of 100 bases (instead of the 222 HBAs). This is due to the LOA that was signed back in 2011 that applied only to those pilots on the seniority system. Most of us are looking for universal basing and do away with the b scale tier but it will take until the next contract to get that resolved....

As for the basing, I didn't realize it had opened up and then been shut back down. I was hired under the IBB/100 bases and never knew anything different. It sounds like what I'd have now is the same as what I had when I left.
I didn't list anyone by name on the app, but I did indicate that I was referred by a former employee. We'll see how much credibility I have with the company in referring myself for employment. It's the NJA version of Austin Powers "Allow myself to introduce myself..."

You are on the 18 day fixed while in training. Once your IOE is done you go on a regular schedule, either 7/7 or 18 day. I don't recall if that is picked or assigned, but you stay there until the next open bid.
When the next open bid comes along you submit your preferences. The 18 day is just one preference, and you place that in your rack/stack wherever you see fit. The 7/7 varies by start days and each line is numbered. Not all start days are available in all fleets - you may not have Tuesdays or Thursdays, for example. You also can choose between the same day starts - one line will start the first and third Monday of a particular month, another line will start the second and fourth Monday.
You send it in. You wait. You see what Christmas morning brings when the bid is released. I always bid 18 day as a junior F/O and even 250 from the bottom could hold it in the Excel (pre-furlough - not sure how it might have changed since).
The 18 day was typically no less than three and no more than eight days out with at least three days off in between. There may have also been a way to indicate your preference as to more short trips or fewer long trips. Memory is getting a bit foggy there, but that penguin is still somewhere on the iceberg.
So, bottom line, you're right. You don't choose. You bid, and the needs of the company dictate what you're awarded. There is a contractual limit as to how many crews can be put on a particular schedule so they can't furlough a bunch of guys, force everyone left behind onto the 18 day to cover the schedule, and work the remaining crews to exhaustion. Based on the description of the current working conditions, though, it sounds like they may have pushed that as far as they legally can.

18 day trainingschedule on return, then when you complete IOE, you transition to the 18 day fixed schedule with the schedule assigned until the next month when you can list your preferences. Some have been able to get a 7/7 line as soon as IOE was over.

Heyas guys.
Curious if it would be a good move to go from express jet to Netjets. I was thinking of firing off a resume pretty quick. My goal is ultimately Hawaiian but if for some reason that didn't happen, I would like to be in a different spot. Netjets sounds pretty sweet. Currently I should upgrade in about 3 years but I definitely don't think its critical to move on.
Peace.
