Just so I have this clear... for example, an individual gets hired at Cape with 500TT and when they reach 1500 TT, they are required to upgrade to C402 and fly Captain for 1000 hours or one year?

How about PIT to BOS? Any 9Kers doing that commute?

Once you get 1500 you upgrade to captain and you have to do 1 yr from the date of your Atp checkride.

None that I know. But it can be a lot harder to commute to your base if you are based at a outstation. Ususally the only way Is on a cape flight.

Can anyone comment on how long it takes to get DEC out of training? I’m coming up on my commercial and multi and I live literally 30 minutes away. Would love to be able to mooch off my parents a bit longer and live with them while I pay off loans

Also, where is the training done and what would the day of an FO in the Midwest look like?

Yep. In fact the 30k contract was brought in cause something like 8 or 10 FOs bailed without upgrading in a span of a week or so two or three years ago.

Is being an FO at Cape commutable? Taking a serious look at them, but just wasn’t sure if I would be able to commute.

I know first year captain averages about $ 79,000/yr once you factor in overtime, incentives and all that, but what about First Officers?
Thanks,
Pat
I think that average is severely skewed. None of my friends made nearly that much as a multi year captain on the 135 side.

Some of the incentive pay is like $500 to pick up a trip. Recently flew with a captain that said he would make $1200 a day flying a trip like that. It’s possible to make 6 figures as a first year captain. You just have to work a lot.
