I have heard absolutely no "official" source talking about a new base. So, I can't say much about it.
But, I can not imagine a base out West. PHL? Maybe. We are doing a decent amount of larger RJ flying out of PHL. For the time being, I personally think we will just continue to grow the DCA base.

Some may disagree but in my opinion I'd say yes and no. Yes I think they'll get to a point in which they need to hire street captains and in my opinion that will happen in just a few months. We have lots of guys/gals that are qualified to upgrade but there are a TON of them bypassing because they don't want to lose the SAP for such a small pay raise to sit captain reserve.
In another thread about a week or two ago I posted that I would only get about a $6,000 raise to upgrade. My math must have been a little off because we just got paid on the 20th, and I'm actually on pace to make 68k this year. That's only 400 bucks less than I'd make as a reserve captain, and that doesn't even include an estimated 3k I'd have to spend for a crashpad on reserve. I'm not trying boast, I'm just stating facts, and I'm more than happy to PM a screenshot of my pay stub if anyone doesn't believe me. I also haven't had less than 15 days off since I was on reserve. Yes I may be giving up PIC time but it's just not worth giving up 4-5 days off a month to sit reserve and make pretty much the exact same as a reserve captain.
At the rate it's going right now in about 2 months we are going to run out of FOs that are willing to upgrade that have their 1,000 hours of 121 time. There are probably some that are bypassing because of summer vacation, but I doubt it's enough to keep up with the amount of upgrades the company needs.
I will also say, in my opinion, I think the company will raise pay for captains to entice current FOs to upgrade. Even if the company would rather hire DECs, I think they will still have to raise captain pay because I really don't see many people applying for a DEC spot when most regionals have short upgrade times now, and unless you live in base...why would someone want to sit captain reserve for 3,4, maybe 5 years when they could just come in as an FO and get a line within just a few months and make almost exactly the same amount of money with more days off of their choosing and not have to deal with scheduling?
Just my opinion. Could be totally wrong.

We are getting a lot of pilots that are coming to PSA that are lateral transfers from other regionals. They have their required time, and are looking forward to upgrading. Once they start taking the upgrades, FOs that previously bypassed will likely take the upgrade since they will be closer to holding a line.
The last captain upgrade award was almost entirely made up of people that previously bypassed. That will likely continue to happen. It will yo-yo between junior upgrades for a couple classes followed by a class or two of FO's that previously bypassed.
I doubt that we will ever get to DEC's again, but there are people that will be able to upgrade a few months after starting as an FO. The upgrade time is about 2 years now and falling. I have been saying for several months now that upgrade times will fall to about 18 months by fall, and probably less by the end of the year.

For the "spouse", it can be anyone of your choosing. Brother, sister, husband, wife, neighbor, friend, or anyone else that you want to give the benefit to.

Other options, trade for the day you need, ask for a personal day, or use a sick call.
