Other options, trade for the day you need, ask for a personal day, or use a sick call.
Awesome. Thank you!

This is not true, I believe PSA Recruiters explanation is incorrect and a little misleading.... A spouse must be someone you are married to. There is also a registered guest and domestic partner designator. A domestic partner hits a little less in the imputed income I think, but don't quote me in that. You are required to show proof that a domestic partner has lived with you for at least 6 months and that you share some sort of financial obligation if I remember correctly. A registered guest can be anyone. A spouse flies for free, however, registered guests and domestic partners do not. You will be taxed on all travel they do and it will be deducted from your paycheck.

I've gotten conflicting answers on this. I thought that sim time doesn't count as TT, but can be credited towards the 1500 hour requirement. These are two totally different things and just wanted some clarification.

Also, If upgrade times are low and you upgrade at the minimum 1,000 121 time the FAA requires, does sim time count towards that minimum upgrade time?
--"A minimum of 1,000 hours in air carrier operations is required prior to serving as a
PIC in part 121 operations beginning August 1, 2013"

Does the FAA ever define "air carrier operations"? is simulator instruction at a 121 operation considered an air carrier operation?

Some sim time can be counted if it is part of a training program. For instance, 100 hours of 141/142 time can be counted toward your ATP minimums per the FAA.

When it comes to upgrade, it is 1000 hours of 121 time. Time spent in a sim is either 61 or 141/142, and not 121, so it won't count.

Siblings, friends, etc...do fly for free, but the government does tax you. They consider it to be income if you extend those benefits to friends or relatives other than a spouse. It isn't much, but they do tax it.

So just a little more clarification, it can be credited towards your ATP minimums but it doesn't count as total time. Sort of like the night landings can count towards your night hour requirement, but your total logged night time is still unchanged.

Thanks for the help!

I've had several questions about training and sims in the last couple days, and just followed up with the training department to see what the current status is.

As of now, most everyone is starting sims in the CRJ 700/900, and then doing differences in the CRJ-200. There are a few people that started sims in the CRJ-200 based on sim availability.

Just a reminder - we do fly all 3 interchangeably. If you start sims in the 200, it does not mean that you are "stuck" in the 200 once you hit the line.

Would a girlfriend/boyfriend that you've lived with for at least a year count as a "domestic partner" or would I be charged for their non-rev travel? How much is the typical charge? Do parents and children travelling non-rev also get charged?
