Like others have mentioned, I bring a cooler with about two meals worth and healthy snacks. I usually save my cooler food for times when it's not convenient to go get something. That being said, airport food is not that bad nor expensive. You just have to be willing to not stop at the first place that you see. Or better yet, having a good idea of what restaurants are in the hub and even outstations helps for planning on what and when to eat. I don't eat meat or dairy and I make it work just fine. I just end up eating a lot of the same thing many times.

I was so salted by the end of the 4 day deer hunters were hiring me to stand in a forest.

I always bring a cooler bag with me on trips... It isn't that there aren't decent food options available on the road here and there, it's just that I get tired of the process to go out and get it. After a 5 leg day and getting to the hotel at 9:00-10:00PM it's about the last thing I want to do. I usually bring Publix pre-made soups and microwaveable rice bags for quick meals here and there. I usually make a protein with a veggie to eat for a couple meals. I usually will buy coffee in the AM and maybe breakfast here and there if I'm doing early shows and the hotel doesn't have breakfast ready yet or if they just simply don't have a breakfast worth eating (there's only so many powdered eggs or microwaved omlettes a person can take before they reach critical mass). And I'll usually buy a meal or two out on the road. I've found that there is a balance to be struck with most pilots. Do too much of one thing (too much meal prep and eating out of your cooler or too much eating out) and you'll grow tired of it.

Just started month 6, based in CLT and got a reserve line again. But then they built a line out of open time. Working every weekend. Trips were pretty low time so not a lot of credit for only 11 days off. There were fewer round 2 lines than last month so I missed the cutoff. Glad not to be on reserve but hoping for better in the coming months.

The 30 airframes are nothing to the overall picture for AA, but it certainly is a FAILURE here at PSA. Another failure in a long line of them. I know individuals here on "ask a Recruiter" hate using the few buzz words that paint any other color than gold. Our fellow pilot already on property are not happy the way things are happening here. As for P2.0 (that I am not even on) does the "pretty painted roads of gold" work over there........... I didn't think so. Never let the two worlds meet, it might cost you a referral bonus.
