I know of multiple Envoy cadets who hit their hours last Spring and Envoy said if they didn't have a job for them in 6 months they were free to leave with no penalty and did not owe them anything... they're flying 135 or out of the industry right now, so I highly doubt Envoy is currently telling cadets they have to sit around for 6+ months or they owe them money.

No they don't get paid by envoy, they flight instruct and their paycheck is sent envoy and then to them from envoy with deductions for healthcare if they choose to get coverage. I think PSA and Piedmont do the same thing. The cadets can collect their bonuses however, most I know used it to fund their CFII, MEI, or to start paying back some student loans.

If I were in your shoes I would apply here as well as at EDV. Any regional thats hiring apply. As others have said seniority is everything. Don't sit around waiting or hoping when you could apply and possibly get on elsewhere. You want to get on a seniority list, get hours and get as many people under you as possible. Quicker you do that the quicker you can get hired on elsewhere (ACMI, LCC, Majors etc) whenever things turn around.

why do people still have this logic? If there is only enough flying for x number slots for captains, the base you want, lines, or whatever, it doesn’t matter how many people are under because you will never move into one of those desirable spots until people leave them. You gain seniority by people leaving above you. Go to somewhere where people regularly move from on top of you. Look at expressjet before shutdown, they had tons of new people but upgrades still took 5+ years, know why? Cause no one left at the top. People kept cycling through the bottom but the movement needs to happen at the top (or at least above you) to move up.
Before covid PSA was the place to go for this. There was constant movement at the time and nothing was slowing it down. There is even movement now

In a company that isn’t growing you eventually need people above you leaving to gain seniority. That’s one advantage of a flowing flow.
But in a growing company you can indeed make real gains solely with people below you.
