I don't think that hiring even a couple hundred FOs will even put a dent in the amount of stimulus money AA received.

Build up the bench while training them with taxpayer money then furlough when need be? If the sims are idle and the instructors aren’t needed for flying the line, this doesn’t add a whole lot of expense beyond what, training hotels? I’m just trying to make sense of it.

Something has to be coming. No way that the airline would take on all of the costs to upgrade FOs again, train all pilots including new hires, and have all of the extra expenses. The government is only paying for the salary of pilots, so that is a huge cost for the airline to do all of this.

In the email that went out it stated the hiring was due to working with AA to identify flying for this year plus the attrition after recalls . I'm sure if the attrition numbers let PSA keep money they would have otherwise paid in payroll they would've gladly done that. Why AA picked PSA and not Piedmont or Envoy remains the mystery.

We’ve had much better performance numbers than all the feeders and many of our routes have actually been profitable for AA.. that’s why

Any hope for the helicopter pilots with RTP CJOs?

We’ve gotten a similar email saying we are almost at pre COVID block hours for March. That’s why PDT did not want to furlough. Put themselves in a position to pick up flying because of how spontaneous the schedule is. Maybe that’s what PSA is doing.

Piedmont also didn't lose the planes we did, so it'll be impossible to get to pre-Covid numbers without new airplanes. I don't think we lost a whole bunch of pilots, but I also don't know the numbers.

We (Piedmont) lost 5 planes, and you guys lost 19, right? That's pretty similar, relative to the pilot group and overall fleet sizes.
