Yeah the two different types argument floors me...it presents complications sure..but if you are running a company right it's hardly that big of an issue. Us and PSA are about the only regionals that don't operate more then one type so bad argument from the panel palace imho.

If PSA and PDT merge won't USair be forced to give up one of the certificates? My understanding is that the rights: gates and so on, that were aquired when Usair took both airlines over is the most important thing to them. Therefore they will always be operated as saperate certificates. Am I mistaken?

No, we are both wholly owned subsidiaries. USAirways already has rights to all of our routes and gates becuase they own them. The respective 121 certificates have nothing to do with any of that. But on the other note, I'm not sure if a 121 certificate can become invalidated due to inactivity or not. Doesn't really matter though because the Piedmont name will likely be kept in lieu of a merger and the PSA brand shelved. But anything is possible. Could see both names go away and we simply become what our pseudo DBA already is..US Airways Express.

Yeah they operate those routes and gates at mainline, but if one certificate is gone then the gates from that airline, as an aquired trademark, will go up for sale, and the routes will have to be bid on, right? Isn't that why they kept both of us around even throught two bankruptcies instead of selling one off to create equity, like Delta did.

I would like to think our MEC would tell us to take a long walk before we allow it to happen. There is no benefit for PSA. PSA and Peidmont have the same crap schedules and the same crap routes but we (PSA) have better pay and better airplanes. PSA pilots being displaced to the Dash-8. That dog don't hunt so they say. It would be vindication for the senior Peidmont people who tried to undercut PSA for the jets.
